Second competition day
The heat is on: Meng and Ohno want to get revenge

07/03/2009 - The second day of the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in the Ferry-Dusika-Stadion in Vienna will bring the decision over 500 meters for ladies and men. Especially two skaters want to get their revenge: Defending champions Apolo Anton Ohno (USA) and Wang Meng (China) got nothing yesterday with Apolo finishing fourth over 1.500 meters and Meng winning the race but being disqualified afterwards. Also last year's men Silber medallist, Charles Hamelin (Canada), was stopped by a disqualification in yesterday's semi final.

Before the competitions of the second day, 1.500 meter World champion Min-Jung Kim (Korea) leads in the ladies' overall classification, compatriot Ho-Suk Lee in the men's clasification. The competition will start at 12:00 o'clock (GMT+1) today with the ladies' preliminaries. In the first men's preliminary at 12:50, Austrian local hero Andre Pulec has to beat US-american athlete J.R. Celski, who won the Bronze medal yesterday if he wants to advance to the Quarter Finals. This all ensures a thrilling second competition day in the Ferry-Dusika-Stadium.
