1.000 meters, Super Final and Relay on Sunday
Three finals make it a real "final" day
08/03/2009 - Everything is set up for a great final day of the ISU
World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Vienna. After yesterday's
thrilling decisions over 500 meters, the skaters today will fight for
the title "World champion" over 1.000 meter. Chinese Mang
Weng and Korean Yoon-Gy Kwak lead the overall classifications for ladies
and men and want to keep that position until the evening. The ladies'
overall title might be a Chinese-Korean duel. In the men's classification
the Canadians, who showed a strong performance yesterday, and the Americans
want to challenge the leading Korean skaters. Everything is possible
on the final day.
After the finals at 15:20 pm, there will also be the Super Final with
the best eight skaters and the Relay finals. Korea wants to defend the
ladies's Relay title today, as the Korean men already were knocked out
in the semi final.
